What we believe
The United Methodist Church is a mainline protestant denomination that places primary emphasis on the word of God revealed in Scripture. United Methodists share a common heritage with all Christians.
John Wesley and the early Methodists placed primary emphasis on Christian living, on putting faith and love into action. This emphasis on what Wesley referred to as "practical divinity" has continued to be a hallmark of United Methodism today.
Where we are & how we started
A Methodist society was formed in Cambridge, Maryland in the late 1700’s. In 1783, it became a congregation of Methodist Episcopal Church in America. The church opened for services in August 1883, with Bishop John G. Granberry preaching the dedication sermon. Grace Church was called a “model of architectural beauty and symmetry”.
