ADMINISTRATIVE BOARD
LES, Chairperson

Warm weather is here and it is time for spring cleaning around the church.  i would like to thank butch for spending time at the church leaning out several room son the second floor.  if you would like to volunteer to help butch with projects around the church, please contact him or the church office.

Another special thanks goes out to leonard for the great job he did on the new stairs leading into the dr. hines room.  The ladies love them!

as many of you know we had a little incident at the church when a gust of wind took the small steeple off of the church.  we were able to get willow construction to do a temporary repair on the roof of the church and an estimate is being drawn up for replacing the steeple.  our insurance company has been working with us regarding the financial end of the problem.

i would like to thank all of those who came out that afternoon and helped with covering up the hole and cleaning up.  a special thank you to rescue fire company for the use of their ladder truck to get the tarp over the hole before more rain arrived.   it was a great relief to have them come and offer their services while we were trying to figure out what e were going to do about the hole.  please remember this service they provided when they start their donation drive.

for our members who have not been with us for awhile, please consider coming back to grace and experience all we offer.  you have the choice of three great services: Early morning grace contemporary service at 8:45 a.m., the baraca or dr. hines classes as well as other Sunday school classes at 9:45 a.m. and the traditional worship service at 11:00 a.m.   each is distinct in it's own way.

we have a lot of great things going on here at grace.  come and be a part of it.  have a blessed and spectacular spring!

The Cold Weather Shelter program is coming to an end.  The guests this year at the shelter have been so wonderful to work with.  they are very appreciative and thankful for all the meals and other items that are provided.

I wish to thank everyone who helped this year.  Your participation is so important in making this project run so smoothly.  We plan to take part in this program again next year, so if you didn't get a chance to help this year you will have an opportunity to help next year.

We have become involved in a new program called the Backpack Project.  We have partnered with Sandy Hill School in this project, since we have several church members who are teachers and/or staff members in that school.  This program targets children who have little or no food from the time they leave school on Friday until they return to school Monday morning.  On Friday bags are packed with a variety of the below mentioned food and delivered to the school for distribution to these children.  I have been advised by the guidance counselor that there has been an overwhelming response from the parents of these children how grateful they are for the food that has been provided.  You may donate to this program by purchasing any of the following food items and drop them off in the church kitchen or making a monetary donation.  If you have any questions about this program please feel free to contact me.  Again, thank you for always meeting the needs of the less fortunate in our community.

FOOD ITEMS NEEDED

Cereal (Small boxes) Ravioli/Spaghetti O's

Thank you for faithfully making donations to the Emergency Fund.  Without your help these programs, as well as other assistance programs, would not be possible.

Membership  Quiz

It is a good idea to periodically review what United Methodist Church Membership means.  Here is a very short two question quiz to help you do that.

1.  What vows of the baptismal covenant does a professing member of the Methodist Church promise to perform?

2.  Who has primary responsibility for faithfully performing the vows of the baptismal convenant?

The Membership Committee Thanks All Members for:

- Faithfully signing in

- Warmly greeting all guests

- Keeping your personal information current with Michal (the Membership Secretary)

GENE

Change is coming to Grace United Methodist Church!  Pastor Jay is retiring and Pastor Tina Blake is joining our Grace Church family.  A transition team has been formed to coordinate the activities surrounding these exciting times.

Betsy and Chris will co-chair a group who will plan a celebration of Retirement for Pastor Jay and Brenda.  JoAnn and Gail will co-chair another group who will plan a welcoming reception for Pastor Tina and her family.

VOLUNTEERS AND WELCOME AND NEEDED!!!
Contact the church office to volunteer - there will be plenty of opportunity to be involved.

As a part of the transition process, the SPRC will meet with Pastor Tina and our District Superintendent, Rev. Moore.  At that meeting we will provide Pastor Tina with information about Grace Church and the many committees, groups, and activities that make up Grace.  This will be a time to learn how we can help her and her family as they move to Cambridge and Grace Church, with the goal being an easy change for all.  As we near the end of June there will be other activities to be done to make this a smooth pastoral change.  Stay tuned for additional ways that you will be able to help make the change successful!

Fall Bazaar

This year's Fall Bazaar will be held on October 13th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon.  If you are spring cleaning and have some unused or good used items that you would like to donate, just bring them by the Church office Monday thru Friday between 10 and 2.  Items this year will be small furniture, small working household appliances (coffee makers, waffle irons, etc.) clean lightly worn clothing for kids and adults, dishes, decorative items, lamps, knick-knacks and any other items that you want to donate.

All proceeds will go the Grace Community Outreach Fund.  For further information, contact the church office at 410-228-4353.
